I am passionate about the benefits of Kinesiology and am so in love with being a practitioner. I could ramble all day about all the exciting things that Kinesiology can help with. But for now I’ll start with how I got to this point.
As a Mum I have been on a HUGE learning curve and journey around the health and wellbeing of my 2 children’s body, mind and spirit. I have 2 very intuitive sensitive children who have been at times challenged by the sometimes harshness and craziness of the world and people around us. My youngest has also had very severe eczema ever since he started eating solids.
My husband and I both started out adult lives fully entrenched in the medical model of health care and through some personal experiences started to explore what complementary and alternative health care options were out there that could support us in our wellness journey. It has been an amazing and enlightening journey. While I still believe in the benefits and appropriate use of a medical model of health care, sometimes they just don’t have all the answers – and I wanted more.
Through the world of Kinesiology we have been able to support my daughter through the trials and tribulations of school and learning, friends and foes, and life’s general ups and downs.
For my son – well what a journey. His eczema got to the point of needing to be bandaged every night to go to bed (which included mitten sleeves – much to his distress) to stop him scratching until his skin would bleed. The best advice I could find in the medical world was stronger steroids and potentially bleach baths. As a Mum I wanted more – I wanted a solution not just band aids – I wanted to be able to relieve this poor little persons struggle, I wanted to help him feel normal, I wanted to find a way that would help his body heal not just suppress the symptoms for short periods of time. I went in search of more. More of anything that would help.
We worked with quite a few Kinesiologists , Naturopaths, Homeopaths, and Chiropractors over the past years with my son. Each one has had different pieces of the puzzle to help him with his Eczema. It’s been a long slow journey of healing his little body and releasing a lot of triggers, particularly around food. I’m so pleased to say that his eczema is sooooo much better. We still have to be mindful about some foods, but his level of food intolerances has certainly decreased and his skin is so much healthier. He feels more like the other kids. He even smiles differently now. Its so rewarding to see.
Other than that how did I decide to become a Kinesiologist? Well I had been thinking about it for quite a while and figured I would get to it one day when the kids were a bit older. Then, one day on the way to school,
Miss 10 says to me “Mummy do you like your job”
Me “Well… not so much”
Miss 10 “So why do you do it?”
Me “Well, it’s part time so I can work around when you are at school and I can be there to pick you up in the afternoons…”
Miss 10 “So… What would you do if you could do something you did like?”
Me “Maybe… be a Kinesiologist?”
Miss 10 “So why don’t you?”
And so it began. I was researching colleges and in the car to a information session about the course within weeks and started my diploma within the month. All the things in the universe just aligned and allowed it to be.
Now that I'm here....
